2025 Waycaster Signs with Bethel University
Ezekiel Waycaster has signed a letter of intent to play football at Bethel University this fall. Waycaster has been a standout on the field since transferring to MCHS as a sophomore.
Players, friends and family gathered in the Little Theater on March 10th to watch as Ezekiel penned his name to the scholarship, which is both athletic and academic. Coach Justin Truett spoke to Ezekiel's hard work as the reason he is receiving this opportunity. Giving just a few stats from this year, Truett said that Ezekiel had "37 total tackles, which included 30 solo tackles, 4 sacks, 2 fumble retrievals and 13 tackles for loss. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a single season." He also referred to underclassmen who have benefitted from Ezekiel's personal coaching and help throughout the season, and thanked him for being a great teammate on and off the field. "We'll be watching you and keeping up with you, so go get that degree and just keep doing what you do," said Truett.
Ezekiel currently plans to major in either biology or criminal justice with hopes of becoming a game warden. His favorite memory involved a game during junior year when both he and "Tyler Montgomery were on two ends, and we both beat our guys about the same time and ran around to the quarterback. He stepped up and we hit each other instead." A favorite highlight was also the 60-yard touchdown against Bolivar in his junior year. He has played in several positions - "outside linebacker, middle linebacker, defensive end, defensive tackle, offensive tackle, offensive guard, running back, tailback, halfback, fullback, tight end, wing, slot, pretty much anything that doesn't require coverage". He would say middle linebacker or defensive end would be his favorite position, and those are the spots he expects to be asked to play at Bethel.
