MCHS has two separate cheer squads, one each for football and basketball.  Cheer candidates try out together, making their preference known at the Parent's Meeting.  Each student selected for a cheer squad must abide by the rules of the same contract for both squads.

Print the Tryout General Information

MANDATORY PARENT MEETING: Monday, Mar. 17 @ 5:30

The meeting will be held in the Little Theater at MCHS and must be attended by both the candidate and a parent or legal guardian. Parents should park at and enter at Entrance 1 after 5:00 pm.  Candidates will indicate at that time if they are trying out for football, basketball or either.

You will turn in your signed contract and $30 tryout fee at the meeting. Payment should be made by cash or check (made payable to MCHS).

You will NOT need to turn in teacher recommendation information this year.

CLINICS: There are THREE days of required clinics this year.  

• MON  March 17 3:30 - 5:00 dance & cheer 

• TUE   March 18 3:30- 5:00 dance & cheer (tennis & softball players are excused if needed)

• WED  March 19 3:15 - 4:30 stunt clinic 

All material will be posted on the band app.  Candidates may use the app to review the material.  To join the band:

1. download the free “band” app on your smartphone

2. click on the “More” icon in the bottom right corner

3. click “Check Invite”

4. click “I Got a QR Code”, and scan the QR code at right.  

5. You should now have access to the material, all announcements, and be
   able to send messages to the coaches.

TRYOUTS: March 21 @  3:00 pm

Wear solid white t-shirts, solid black shorts, and hair in ponytails. No printed text or graphics should be visible on the shirt or shorts. (No jewelry!) Hairbows must be a solid color with no graphics.

You will try out in groups of 2 or 3. Your tryout material will be completed in this order:

1. run out and/or tumbling pass 

2. 1 standing jump other than toe touch            

3. required cheer 

4. required dance                       

UNIFORM FITTINGS:  

Fittings will be held in the EPod lounge.  Parents can park at Entrance 1 and use the sidewalk to the right of EPod.  

• Basketball cheer will be Wednesday, April 3rd at 3:30.

• Football cheer will be Monday, March 31st @ 6:00.
