Here are your DISTRICT CHAMPS, the Bobcat tennis team! The boys team won 4-1 over Scotts Hill to take the title. 1st Seed Reece Holcombe defeated Patrick Lewis 6-4, 6-2. 2nd Seed Joey Clayton fell to Preston Lewis 6-3, 6-3. 3rd Seed Carter Howell defeated Marcus Bielinski 6-3, 6-3, 4th Seed Nathan Blakely defeated Ty Jones 6-2, 6-1, and 5th Seed Hunter Hurst defeated David Whitaker 6-0, 6-2. The first team to reach four wins is declared the winner, so the team did not have to play doubles' matches today. The girls team finished as the district runner-up.

Lady Bobcat Lena Taylor has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Blue Mountain Christian University in Blue Mountain, MS. Taylor is pictured with her parents, Jeff and Amanda Taylor. Also pictured are MCHS Basketball Head Coach Jerry Lott and Assistant Melody Price, and BMC Head Coach Tracy Rice with Assistant Andrea Lewis. Taylor's junior high coach from Ramer Elementary, Erika Wright Donnell, is also pictured.
Taylor finished her career with 705 points, an average of 8.8 per game. She averaged 2.7 rebounds per game, 1.9 assists per game, and 1.65 steals per game. She set the record for most 3 Point Field Goals made in a game with 7 vs Kossuth on Nov. 28, 2023. She is also tied for 2nd in 3 Point Field Goals made in a season with 60, and 2nd in Free Throw Percentage in a season at 82.7%, both in her senior year. Taylor is tied for 2nd for 3 Point Field Goals in a Career with 113.
She says her favorite memory was the district championship title win over Chester County in her junior year. She has not yet decided on a major or career path.

Digitizing scorebooks has brought us another record for the books. Coach Brian Franks earned his 200th game win on May 8, 2018 with the 6-4 win over Chester County. He set the school record for winningest baseball coach at 205 with the 9-0 shutout of of Northside on March 19, 2019. This broke Danny Day's previous record of 204 wins.
Brian Franks took over as head baseball coach in the 2008-2009 school year, and by 2012 had led his team to their first state tournament appearance. Franks also served as head football coach for five years, from 2016-2021. He became Athletic Director in 2014 with the retirement of Danny Day.
Franks was recognized at the home game on April 26. The team gave him another win with their 9-8 battle over Fayette Academy. He is currently at 250+.

The District 12-AAA Baseball Tourney will be held on the campus of McNairy Central High School in the Cpl Hayden Harris Memorial Complex.

Students and Parents,
We will be unable to offer the free physical exams required for sports participation at MCHS this year. All student athletes who plan to participate in any sport at MCHS for the 2024-25 school year will need to have their personal physical complete the physical exam. Print the form below to take to your physical's office. These forms should be turned in to the coach or athletic director before participating in any school sport.

The tennis team played Collinwood on Tuesday for a 'home' game at Adamsville. Reece Holcombe defeated Alex Stricklin 8-0, Carter Howell defeated Brian Clive 8-1, Joey Clayton defeated Ben Weeks 8-0, Nathan Blakely defeated Christopher Flippo 8-1, and Hunter Hurst won by forfeit. The team of Holcombe and Blakely won their doubles match 8-1, and Howell/Clayton won 8-0 for a clean 7-0 sweep by the boys team.
The teams will play Adamsville at Adamsville on Thursday.

Summer Basketball Camp information has been released.
Junior High Team Camp for Grades 6-8 Boys and Girls will be May 28-31. Games will begin at 9:00 am and end by 5:00 pm. All games will be played at MCHS and Selmer Middle School.
Two Options:
1 - Team fee of $275 for 8 games
#2 - $40 / game for as many as you want
Deadline to sign up is May 15.
High School Team Camp for Grades 9-12 will be June 3-5. Games will begin at 9:00 am and end by 6:00 pm. All games will be played at MCHS.
